Melrose Music Schools guitar teachers can provide the knowledge and expertise to let you achieve your goals and they can also offer their wealth of experience from playing within the music industry, both in the studio and live.
We usually start teaching children from the age of 7yrs. If your child doesn't have a guitar when they start we have 1/2 size and 3/4 children's size guitars that we can let your child use during the lesson. The tutor can advise you about what kind of guitar to buy when you are ready to purchase one. We see each child as an individual and we tailor lessons specifically to suit their musical needs and interests.
Our guitar teachers can provide support with what is required to pass National 5, Higher and Sixth Year Study school exams. For those wishing to pursue external examinations we can prepare your teen to enter exams through RGT, Rockschool or Trinity College London. For those learning guitar for fun we cover tailored music tuition that will suit your teen's musical interests from rock, indie, pop, heavy metal and much more.

From complete beginners to advanced we structure your lessons specifically to what you are looking to achieve. No Piano at home? Don't worry if you haven't got a piano at home, many pupils will practice on keyboards to start with and then we can offer advice on purchasing a piano if you decide to go down that route.
The piano tends to be a great starting instrument from age 5 upwards and results can be seen only after 2 or 3 lessons where your child should be able to play a basic melody. Our specialist piano teachers can educate your child through piano grades or a more relaxed introductory method based on your child's age and preference. We can teach classical grades through the ABRSM Piano Graded Syllabus, as well as the Rockschool Piano Syllabus. Our piano lessons are made fun and easy for all our pupils.

The violin is possibly one of the most expressive instruments and children can start to learn from a very early age. Our tutors will work on building a solid technique, with a view to developing your child's expressive capabilities as much as possible. Our tutors work a lot on musicianship games with children which they find to be great fun and it really develops confidence. We can provide assistance on which size violin to purchase when the time comes. The violin is one of the most expressive instruments and playing it is within your reach. Fees paid monthly in advance by cash, cheque or standing order. Please note we require 48 hours notice to cancel or reschedule a lesson otherwise the full lesson charge will apply.
